Why Are We Here?

It has been a long while since I have blogged. Sorry to all, I have been working on several projects. I will do a better job maintaining this blog. Anyhow, I have been working on how to popularize the transhumanist belief through music, video, and wear. I don't know if it will be successful but I will do my best. I hope to find others to work with.

Back to the question. Why Are We Here? As many transhumanists believe its up to us to answer that question. We will decide our fate. When I was seven years old I looked at my grandmother who was the dearest person in my life and I started to cry because I knew that she would one day die. I made her promise that she would not. She promised she wouldn't. She died 5 years ago. She was very religious and at peace with her beliefs. I was ok with it because I knew nothing could be done. We did not have the knowledge we have now. People accepted death because they had to.

My point, we have to popularize transhumanism because this is our fate. Some of us will not make it through this battle but we will at least have had the ability to push humanity forward. I use the term "Neosapien" because to the word means "New Human". I'm not saying we are more special or elite than others, but we will be judged as having those beliefs and I say let it be. I am a member of the World Transhumanist Association and I see the ability the organization has in making a great impact. I believe Transhumanists will work together in the coming years and will popularize this idea. Why? Because this is why we are here.

Why Transhumanism? The answer wasn't simple for me before but its simple for me now. I am signed up for cryonics and am actively involved in the movement. Here's why. Because when I look at my children, my loved ones, I see beauty in this world, I see hope. I want to be able to say that I did everything in my power to see truth and not just jumped on the bandwagon. I went through a tough time in my life and feel that I am at peace now. Here is more food for thought. When the time comes I would rather put my faith in human hands. Why? Because I see us, I know we exist. Looking for others in this area that can see the big picture. In order to see truth, you must be able to see through the questions to find the answers. neosapien@live.com

Neosapiens translates to "New Humans". We are part of a new movement, the "Transhumanist Movement". Transhumanism is partially derived from humanism. Humanists believe that humans matter, and that individuals matter. We might not be perfect, but we can make things better and promote rational thinking, freedom, tolerance and democracy. Transhumanists agree with this but also emphasize what we have the potential to become. Not only can we use rational means to improve the human condition and the external world but we can also use them to improve ourselves, the human organism. We are not limited only to methods, such as education but can use technological and scientific means that will eventually enable us to move beyond what most would describe as human. We believe that through the accelerating pace of technological development and scientific understanding that we are entering a whole new stage in the history of the human species.
