Description: Eon fathom is a local independent biotech research scientist, based in Tucson, AZ. From a strongly mechanistic or materialistic view the mind is nothing more than the outcome of the structure and charge of atoms and molecules arranged in a 3 pound lump that we call the brain. Such a physical object can be represented as information and is capable of being simulated by very powerful computers. If what 'we' are is this information than we could be transferred to a simulated environment. Being simulated has many advantages, but also raises some ethical concerns. This talk looks at the feasibility and desirability of uploading.
