Meeting Notes
- We reviewed all four h+ websites to determine if consolidation was possible. We concluded that each site had its strengths and weaknesses, and one social network or CMS does not yet offer everything we need. We use Transhumanists.org the least, but no one really uses any of the sites all that much. Facebook has become useful for capturing links and media of interest. The Google group is useful for contacting Tucson h+ members only. The main site is the most public of all the sites.
- Sybil showed a video about doctors using robots for long distance visits with inpatients. | Article.
- We watched the TED video "Blaise Aguera y Arcas: Jaw-dropping Photosynth demo".
- Eon fathom presented an "Odds of Dying" graphic and we concluded we should do research on heart disease, cancer, and strokes while never driving anywhere (in fact, probably not leaving the laboratory at all), always being happy (so we don't commit suicide), and making sure our laboratory is padded to eliminate falls.
- We discussed a paper ebn fathom brought titled "Universal Limits on Computation". 600 years of Moore's law, and then what? | Paper
- Over pizza, Cheetos, and orange juice we also talked about Google Reader (Guy and Richard spoke positively about this RSS reader); short fiction, novellas, and novels listed in the h+ forum on Facebook; AGI versus uploading (per usual); digital cameras with video capabilities; Robot by Hans Moravec; how we ended up in Tucson; and other topics.
